Tiger Polysperma (Hygrophila polysperma 'Tiger' or 'Rosanervig') is a fast-growing beginner-friendly stem plant known for its narrow, marbled leaves with striking tiger-like patterns and contrasting veins.
Physical Characteristics
  • Appearance: Narrow, elongated green leaves featuring brown marbling or striking pink-to-red hues with lighter vein patterns.
  • Growth Rate: Very fast. It forms dense vertical clusters reaching 25 to 60 cm in height.
  • Placement: Ideal for the midground or background of a freshwater aquarium.
    Tank Requirements
  • Care Level: Easy and very undemanding, making it great for beginners.
  • Lighting: Low to moderate, though intense, high lighting brings out deeper pink or reddish leaf colors.
  • Temperature: 4°C to 30°C (optimal range is usually 20°C to 28°C).
  • Water pH: Tolerant of a wide range from 5.0 to 8.0.
  • CO2 & Substrate: CO2 injection is optional; it adapts to sand, gravel, or nutrient-rich aquasoil
    Maintenance & Propagation
  • Trimming: Requires regular pruning because of its rapid vertical growth, which helps it form a thick, bushy hedge.
  • Propagation: Easily propagated by taking stem cuttings and replanting them into the substrate.
