The Redtail Black Shark is a striking fish with a sleek black body and bright red tail. Despite its name, it is not a true shark, but it has a similar appearance and behaviour, making it a popular choice for aquarists looking for a bold, active fish.
Minimum Tank Requirements:
- Tank Size: 150 litres or more
- Temperature: 24-28°C
- pH: 6.5-7.5
Tankmates:
Redtail Black Sharks are territorial and may not do well with other bottom-dwelling fish or fish with long fins. They are best kept with larger peaceful species like barbs, tetras, and cichlids.
Diet:
Omnivorous. They will accept flakes, pellets, and live or frozen foods like brine shrimp and bloodworms.
Care Tips:
Provide a tank with plenty of hiding spots and open swimming space. Redtail Black Sharks can be territorial, especially during breeding or if they feel stressed, so ensure there is plenty of space.
