Fire Eels are stunning, elongated fish with striking red markings along their dark bodies. They are intelligent, can recognize their owners, and may even eat from your hand!
Minimum Tank Requirements:
Tank Size: 300 litres or more
Temperature: 24-28°C
pH: 6.5-7.5
Tankmates: Best kept with peaceful, medium to large tank mates like larger tetras, rainbowfish, and cichlids. Avoid small fish that may be mistaken for food.
Diet: Carnivorous. They prefer live or frozen foods such as bloodworms, earthworms, and shrimp.
Care Tips: Fire Eels love to burrow, so a soft sandy substrate is ideal. Provide plenty of hiding spots like driftwood and caves. Ensure a secure lid, as they are escape artists!
